My name is Ang, my passions are Writing, Photography, Music and Art. I want to travel the world someday, learn to play the piano, and make a difference in this world. And I have to admit I’m a little obsessed with the TV Shows Once Upon a Time (Viva La Swan Queen!), Rizzoli & Isles, Castle and probably about 50 others but those are the main shows I'll blog about. You can also find me on my other tumblr angeii-k where I post updates/statuses on my FanFictions.
growing up doesnt mean you have to stop having fun and doing dumb stuff it just means you still do the same whimsical bullshit but now you sometimes have to take a break because your favorite food upset your tummy
I’m not a psychology researcher, but my guess would be that the nature of it being a time-limited puzzle game where you have to juggle multiple factors means that your short-term memory gets filled and the traumatic images are “dumped” in favor of remembering how many times to rotate the L piece. “As soon as possible” is probably because the sooner you do it, the less likely it is to become part of your long-term memory.
If that is true, then other time-limited activities where you have to remember and plan in a tight time frame may serve a similar purpose.
This can have an effect hours after the traumatic event happens too! All participants were treated within about 6 hours and played for a total of 20 minutes of Tetris (with at least one play time of 10 minutes straight).
They have Tetris for phones now too. I’ve found two similar games that work for me, are the Candy Crush series and the game 2048. It helps me block out obsessive thoughts as well
I love when you find an author who just has a good flavor to their writing. It could be the way they handle characters, the way they use certain tropes or themes, even the specific lilt of their words. Its familiar and comforting and carries across different stories, like coming back to a place of comfort and recognizing the furniture.
This probably took this person 3 seconds to do but it immediately told me that they liked my story enough to come back and read it again and they liked it again the second time.
Your favorite writers Do Not Know that you think about their stories after you read them. I generally assume that my stories make people happy for the few minutes they’re reading and then they never think about it again. To know that that’s not the case and that someone has returned just makes my little heart swell with joy.
I needed this today. If you’re the person who left this comment (or if you’ve ever commented on any of my writing) I love you.
